Secondary 1 Registration
Secondary 1 Registration will open at 9am on Thursday, 21 December 2023. You can complete the registration online by clicking on this link. The online registration will close at 5pm the same day. You will receive an email confirmation upon completing the form.
(A) Subject-Based Banding (SBB)
Students who are eligible to take the subject (English Language / Mother Tongue / Mathematics / Science) at a more demanding level (at G2 / G3 level) will receive a Parents Gateway notification on 21 December 2023. The parent will need to indicate via the notification the student’s interest in taking on subjects at a more demanding level.
(B) Mother Tongue Language & Other Languages
Higher Mother Tongue Languages (HMTL)
An e-copy of the HMTL Option Form will be sent to parents via Parents Gateway on 21 December 2023, if the student is eligible.
Higher Chinese Language (HCL)
Students taking HCL will attend lessons in Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary) during curriculum time. The school has the flexibility to allow students who do not meet the criteria to take up HCL at the end of Secondary 1. Students will be assessed based on their end-of-year overall Mother Tongue Language result, performance for other subjects as well as the recommendation by the Mother Tongue Language teacher.
Higher Malay Language (HML) / Higher Tamil Language (HTL)
Students taking HML or HTL will attend lessons at a designated centre outside of curriculum time. Students can submit their HML or HTL Option Form to the General Office when they report to Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary).
Tamil Language (TL) / Basic Tamil Language (BTL)
Students taking TL and BTL will attend lessons at Queenstown Secondary School, outside of curriculum time. Students taking HTL will attend lessons at Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Center, outside of curriculum time. Registration will be open during the first week of January 2024. More information will be provided at a later date.
Non-Mother Tongue Language (Non-MTL) / Non-Tamil Indian Language (NTIL) / Mother Tongue Language in-lieu (MTL in-lieu)
Students taking Non-MTL / NTIL / MTL in-lieu will attend lessons at a designated centre outside of curriculum time. Students will need to register for their own private study or respective language centre.
For MTL in-lieu, applications to study in MOELC (Bishan / Newton) will need to be via FMS(S) during the first week of January 2024. Students will be informed through the school to sit for a readiness test. Admission to MOELC is subject to students passing the test. Students who have not been notified to sit for the readiness test or did not pass the test are required to continue with their private study arrangements.
3rd Language
Parents / Guardians will receive a Parent Gateway notification from the 3rd Language Coordinator, Miss Siti Ainah, regarding registration at allocated centres. Information will be disseminated via Parent Gateway to parents.
(C) Appeal for Transfer after Secondary 1 Posting
Students who wish to appeal for transfer must still register at the posted secondary school on 21 December 2023, the next working day after the release of school posting results.
Non-Medical Reasons
Students who are appealing for school transfer into Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary) due to non-medical reasons, will need to submit their appeal through this link . The transfer request form will be available from Wednesday, 20 December 2023, 12pm. You will receive an email confirmation upon completing the form. All appeal forms must reach the school by 5pm on Tuesday, 26 December 2023.
Consideration for any transfer is based on the following:
● Student’s PSLE aggregate score must meet the school’s cut-off point of the posting year.
● The school has available vacancies.
Medical Reasons
For students who request for school transfer out due to medical reasons, students will need to submit their appeal via email to CHUA_Jiayin@schools.gov.sg by 21 December 2023, 12pm. All appeals must be accompanied by relevant supporting documents, such as medical reports and / or letters from doctors. Please refer to https://www.moe.gov.sg/secondary/s1-posting/results/appeal-for-school-transfer for more information. The appeal results will only be made known to applicants in early January 2024 through FMS(S). Applicants should continue to attend lessons at FMS(S) while waiting for the appeal results.
(D) Student SEN Form
Parents are kindly requested to complete the online form by 21 December 2023. The information gathered from this form will help the school in planning for the necessary support structures for the students if necessary. A NIL reply is required.

●The fees will be deducted around the 26th of every month except for the months of January, February, November and December. Deduction of January and February fees will be done together in February while the fees for November and December will be deducted in November.
●Please ensure you maintain sufficient funds in your bank account if you are paying via GIRO.
●We encourage all Singaporean students to sign up to use their Edusave accounts to pay for the 2nd tier miscellaneous and autonomous fees. If your child / ward does not have a standing order from primary school, you can email your request to fmss@moe.edu.sg.
(G) Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) 2024
From Sep 2022, eligible applicants will be able to apply for FAS via hardcopy or through eFAS link. Online submission is strongly encouraged.
We will require you to submit hardcopy application form for the following scenarios and you may download the application forms for FAS and submit the completed form(s) with the necessary supporting documents to Fairfield General Office, during office hours.
● Family with other dependents (Great grandparents, Aunties/Uncles, Cousins and Others)
● Family with more than 5 children in govt school
● Family with more than 4 unmarried children not in govt school
● Family with more than 3 grandparents in the household
Students who are ComCare beneficiaries may be auto-granted FAS for 2024. There is no requirement for this group of students to apply for FAS.

Please submit the completed form(s) via eFAS or directly to Fairfield General Office, with the necessary supporting documents by 27 December 2023. Do note that incomplete submissions will result in a delay in your application.
(H) Online Consent for Dental Services (Secondary School Dental Programme)
To promote good oral health for your child / ward, the Health Promotion Board (HPB) continues to provide free dental checks and basic treatments (if required) at specific times during school hours. The dental service for our students is provided at Fairfield Methodist School (Primary).
(I) Online Consent for HPV Vaccination for Secondary 1 Girls
The Health Promotion Board will be offering school-based human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination to all female students in secondary schools, under the national school-based HPV vaccination programme.
We will inform all parents once we have confirmed the vaccination date for Year 2024. Parents / Guardians will need to give their consent before the child / ward can receive the vaccination.
● Students who are 14 years and below in Secondary 1 will require 2 doses. The first dose will be given in Secondary 1 and the second dose will be given in the next year.
● Students who are 15 years old and above in Secondary 1 will require 3 doses. The first and second doses will be given in Secondary 1 and the third dose will be given in the next year.
To give consent:
1. Log on to https://childconsent.hpb.gov.sg
2. Login using your SingPass with 2-factor authentication (2FA).
3. Type in your child’s/ward’s UIN/BC/FIN number.
4. Fill up and submit the consent form.
(J) Access to School Car Park
Designated red parking lots are intended for season parking and are strictly reserved for staff of the school who have paid for season parking.
Parents / guardians are not allowed to park in red parking lots.
Use of the School Car Park during School Dismissal
Parents / guardians are not allowed to drive into the school to pick up their child / ward.
Visitor Parking
White parking lots are for visitors to the school on official business. This can include parents who are here to meet up with teachers on official matters. As there are limited white lots, once the lots are all taken up, any visitor will have to find parking outside of the school.
(K) Parents Gateway
The Parent Gateway (PG) Mobile App is an initiative by MOE to enable parents to interact with schools more conveniently regarding administrative and financial matters. Parents will also be able to use this app to stay updated on the school’s programme and activities.
If you have two or more children and they are in different schools, you will be able to receive notifications for all your children on the same PG App. We strongly encourage all parents to download and use the PG App to stay updated on the school’s programme and activities.
