Do you struggle with your immense workload? If you do, then take three minutes to read this article about Thum Fu Hang who gave his best in everything that he did, and graduated as the GCE N(T)-Level Top Scorer from Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary) in 2020.
What has he done, you may ask?
For the past few years, Fu Hang was one student who arrived in school earlier than most students. In fact, some of us might still be sleeping when he was already in school! As the Vice-Chairperson of the Public Address (PA) Crew, Fu Hang led his team to take charge of the audio system for morning assembly. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fu Hang and his PA crew members also had to ensure that the cameras were set up and ready for the live streaming of morning assembly. Furthermore, his team was tasked to manage the virtual streaming and recording of chapel sessions every Tuesday morning, as well as during school events such as the Founder’s Day Morning Service, National Day Celebrations and Thanksgiving Service.
During morning assembly itself, Fu Hang would also take the initiative to make his rounds in the classroom block, and problem-solve all issues associated with the audio and video delivery in the classrooms on the spot on a daily basis.
Fu Hang’s skills were not limited to the school’s Public Address system. He was also an Executive Committee member of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Land, where he took charge of training and mentoring his juniors during CCA sessions. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to participate in the 2019 ignITE Skills Challenge Fun Wheelers Competition, where he emerged as one of the Top 10 Finalists. His dedication and passion enabled him to attain early admission to the Electrical Technology (Lighting and Sound) course at the Institute of Technical Education.
Apart from his achievements in both of his Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and competitions, Fu Hang also excelled academically. He was awarded the Ministry of Education Edusave Scholarship from 2018 to 2020. Eventually, he graduated as the top scorer of his cohort at the GCE N(T)-Level examinations in 2020.
How did Fu Hang manage to accomplish so much? What was his secret to excellence?
He exclaimed, “Planning is key! Once you plan out a suitable schedule for yourself, you will be able to dedicate sufficient time and effort to each task, be it schoolwork or CCA commitments.”
Fu Hang is someone who has taken the sacrificial path to excellence. His dedication, passion, service and grit were indeed admirable. Let his work and story be an inspiration and encouragement for all of us to strive to do our best in all tasks!
