The Methodist Walk is a biennial event organised by the Methodist Schools' Foundation to raise funds for all the Methodist schools in Singapore to improve their school facilities. The theme of this year’s Methodist Walk was ‘Walk Together’, and it was held on 25 March 2017.
The entire Secondary One cohort from FMS(S) gathered excitedly with students from other Methodist Schools at Anglo-Chinese Junior College. The event commenced with the arrival of the Guest of Honour, Minister of Education Mr Ng Chee Meng. Everyone then enjoyed the wonderful performance put up by the ACJC Alumni Choir, as they swayed to the melody of the beautiful chorus and applauded the Choir members for their outstanding performance.
Mr Ng was then invited on stage to signal the start of the Methodist Walk. Balloons cascaded from the netting above, as the students jumped joyfully and ran towards the stands to play with the colourful balloons. Soon, these multi-coloured balloons were seen rising above the crowd, creating a dash of vibrant colours against the baby blue sky.
Everyone then had an enjoyable time walking along the 4 kilometre long route as they spent this joyous occasion interacting and exercising with their friends. It was definitely a day to remember as everyone forged deeper bonds with one another while walking. Everyone was in high spirits after completing the walk. They were even treated to free ice cream and pastries that were donated by several generous sponsors.
All in all, the Methodist Walk enabled all to engage in fellowship and bonding, thus making it a walk to remember.
