Fairfield Basketball’s ‘B’ Division Boys Finishes Second in South Zone Basketball Championship Finals 2018
On 1 March 2018, Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary)’s ‘B’ Division Basketball team competed against Anglo Chinese School in the finals of the Inter-School South Zone Basketball Championships. Fairfield emerged as the first runner up after defeating a few formidable opponents along the way.
Our school leaders as well as many Fairsians made their way to Delta Sports Hall to support Fairfield’s ‘B’ Division Basketball Boys’ team. The unity amongst all Fairsians was evident through the cacophony of applause and cheering. Excitement buzzed through the charged air, as classmates patted one another on the back. On the court, the boys displayed incredible fighting spirit and tremendous tenacity by running and shooting with boundless energy and skill.
What was commendable was also the remarkable sportsmanship displayed by a Fairfield Basketball team member, who immediately stepped forward to help an injured Anglo Chinese School team player ease his pain during the match. This resulted in a standing ovation between both sets of players.
During the prize presentation, the ‘B’ Division Basketball Boys’ team received their medals and the first runner-up trophy with pride and grace, as they had done Fairfield proud.
We look forward to further success at the National Basketball Championships in Term 2!
