Fairfield Achieves Excellent 2017 GCE O- and N-Level Results

by Raelee Toh Hsuan Hui (Sec 4E)

On 12 January 2018, our 2017 cohort of Secondary 4 Express and 5 Normal (Academic) students returned to FMS(S) to collect their GCE O-Level results. The Chen Su Lan Hall was filled with chatter and murmur as everyone was anxiously anticipating the release of the examination results.

Our Principal, Ms Audrey Chen started off by reminding students that their results do not define who they are. Instead, she encouraged them to view their O-Level results as a stepping stone in their lifelong learning journey. Ms Chen also motivated the students to look back at the rich experiences they had together in Fairfield, be it through their studies, their involvement in the respective CCAs and their commitment to the community.

Shortly after, Ms Chen gave an overview of the 2017 GCE O-Level examination results. Our students were delighted and a wave of exuberance could be felt amongst all in the hall, as the 2017 cohort did very well in the GCE O-Level examinations! Indeed, we would like to give thanks to God for the wonderful results achieved by our students, as a remarkably large number of students achieved an L1R5 score of 10 points or below, which enabled them to qualify for their desired course at Anglo Chinese Junior College. Well-rounded students who were outstanding in both their CCAs and GCE O-Level examination results were also recognised. Indeed, the students surpassed their expected results with the love and effort put in by all the teachers who have taught them over the 4 or 5 years they studied in Fairfield. This truly exemplified the spirit of ‘stronger together’.

The Secondary 4 Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) students also achieved commendable GCE N(A)- and N(T)-Level results at the 2017 GCE N-Level examinations. 100% of the N(T) students qualified for a place at the Institute of Technical Education, while a good percentage of the N(A) students did well enough to be eligible for promotion to Secondary 5 this year.

Once again, we give thanks to God for his love and guidance and show our deepest appreciation to our dearest teachers for helping their students to produce such good results!

Well done, batch of 2017!
