Fairfield’s 'C' Division Badminton Girls’ Team Clinches Second Place
On 2 March 2017, Fairfield’s 'C' Division Badminton Girls’ Team made history by playing against Raffles Girls' Secondary School in the finals of the 2017 South Zone Badminton Championships. Although the Fairfield Badminton girls knew that they were competing against one of the strongest badminton teams in Singapore, they were not intimidated.

Many Fairsians and parents made their way to Toa Payoh Sports Hall to support the Fairfield Badminton Girls’ team. The unity among the Fairsians was palpable and the energy in the air was felt. On court, the girls displayed great resilience and fought on despite facing many trials and tribulations, eventually taking second place with a score of 1-4 after defeating their first doubles players. Fairfield Badminton Team had never defeated any RGS players at school competitions but the C division girls created history not only on 2 March but also on 27 February 2017 when they defeated the RGS second singles player though they lost 1-4. Throughout the South Zone competitions in 2017, RGS managed to brush aside all their opponents with a score of 5-0.
At the end of the competition, Fairfield’s ‘C’ division badminton girls received their medals with pride and satisfaction. This achievement was made possible by the grace of God as well as Coach Junwei for pushing each and every player to maximise their full potential. The victory made all the arduous physical training and footwork exercises worthwhile.
Congratulations to Fairfield’s 'C' Division Badminton Girls’ Team! We look forward to further success at the National Badminton Championships in Term 2!
